CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
watchdog: msc313e: Avoid division by zero
clk_get_rate() could return 0. Avoid a division by zero panic. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
media: verisilicon: rockchip: guard VPU981 AV1 divisor and tile buffer
rockchip_vpu981_av1_dec_set_tile_info() divides context_update_tile_id by
tile_info->tile_cols and writes one descriptor per tile into the tile_info
DMA buffer, which holds AV1_MAX_TILES entries; tile_cols and tile_rows
come from the bitstream. Guard the division against a zero tile_cols by
initialising the context-update values to zero and computing them only
when tile_cols is non-zero, and stop the descriptor writes once the
tile_info buffer is full. The tile geometry written to the hardware
registers is left unmodified; the per-dimension and total tile bounds are
enforced by the control validation. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mptcp: close race between scheduler and state change
The mptcp scheduler may race with subflow sockets state change: data
transmission on the selected socket may fail and a later release could
try to use mss_now reset to 0 for a divide operation.
Address the issue by explicitly checking for the critical scenario. |
| BlueALSA (bluez-alsa/bluealsad) contains a division-by-zero vulnerability in the LC3plus sink decoder (a2dp-lc3plus.c, a2dp_lc3plus_dec_thread) that allows a Bluetooth-adjacent attacker to crash the daemon by sending a crafted RTP media header with an attacker-controlled frame count field set to zero. Attackers can establish an A2DP source connection with an LC3plus session negotiated against a victim running bluealsad as an A2DP sink and transmit a non-fragmented LC3plus media header with a zero frame count to trigger a SIGFPE in the decoding thread, causing a denial of service on builds compiled with LC3plus support enabled. |
| NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Windows and Linux contains a vulnerability in the kernel mode layer where an attacker could cause a divide by zero. A successful exploit of this vulnerability might lead to denial of service. |
| FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to 3.28.0, an authenticated RDP client can advertise DVI ADPCM with nBlockAlign equal to 8 and nChannels equal to 2 to make the `bs` calculation in rdpsnd_server_select_format in channels/rdpsnd/server/rdpsnd_main.c equal zero. The subsequent out_frames modulo `bs` operation raises SIGFPE and terminates the server-side rdpsnd channel process. This vulnerability fixed in 3.28.0. |
| A security vulnerability has been detected in vgmstream. The affected element is the function init_vgmstream_awb_memory of the file src/meta/awb.c of the component AWB parser. Such manipulation leads to divide by zero. The attack can be executed remotely. The name of the patch is ae37662ad626254ddd96ad69ac263792d7a92024. A patch should be applied to remediate this issue. |
| ImageMagick before 7.1.2-31 and 6.9.13-56 contains a division-by-zero flaw in the FLIF encoder. An incorrect value for ticks per second in the image being encoded causes a divide-by-zero and crashes the encoder, resulting in a denial of service. The issue is fixed in 7.1.2-31 and 6.9.13-56. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
sched/fair: Fix overflow in update_tg_cfs_runnable()
A divide-by-zero crash is observed when running hackbench:
[14697.488452] CPU: 112 UID: 0 PID: 124791 Comm: hackbench Not tainted 7.1.0-rc2+
[14697.492627] RIP: 0010:propagate_entity_load_avg+0x35f/0x3e0

[14697.512053] __x64_sys_read+0x19/0x30
The divide-by-zero happens here:
if (scale_load_down(gcfs_rq->load.weight)) {
load_sum = div_u64(gcfs_rq->avg.load_sum,
scale_load_down(gcfs_rq->load.weight));
}
gcfs_rq->load.weight is an insane large value and is truncated
to the lower 32 bits by div_u64, which happen to be 0.
Using AI for investigation, the cause is a u32 overflow in
update_tg_cfs_runnable(), and flat pickup became a victim when using
tg_tasks():
u32 new_sum, divider;
...
new_sum = se->avg.runnable_avg * divider; <-- boom
The following sequence shows how this triggers the crash:
propagate_entity_load_avg()
update_tg_cfs_runnable() # u32 overflow corrupts runnable_sum
__update_load_avg_cfs_rq()
___update_load_avg() # computes insane runnable_avg
update_tg_load_avg() # propagates to tg->runnable_avg
update_cfs_group()
calc_concur_shares()
tg_tasks() # long-to-int truncation, negative nr
reweight_entity() # corrupted se->load.weight
update_load_add() # corrupted cfs_rq->load.weight
propagate_entity_load_avg()
update_tg_cfs_load()
div_u64() # divide-by-zero
Fix by widening new_sum from u32 to u64 (no need to force tg_tasks()
to return unsigned long after this fix) |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/display: avoid divide-by-zero in __is_lut_linear()
__is_lut_linear() computes the expected value of each entry with
expected = i * MAX_DRM_LUT_VALUE / (size - 1);
If it is ever called with a single-entry LUT, size - 1 is zero and the
kernel takes a divide error (#DE). A LUT with fewer than two entries
cannot describe a linear mapping anyway, so return false early instead
of dividing by zero. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/display: fix division by zero in get_estimated_bw()
get_estimated_bw() divides by link->dpia_bw_alloc_config.bw_granularity,
which is zeroed by reset_bw_alloc_struct() and only populated once
DP_TUNNELING_BW_ALLOC_CAP_CHANGED has been handled.
link_dp_dpia_handle_bw_alloc_status(), the DPCD interrupt handler,
calls get_estimated_bw() whenever DP_TUNNELING_ESTIMATED_BW_CHANGED
is set, independently of whether DP_TUNNELING_BW_ALLOC_CAP_CHANGED
has ever fired for that link. A connected USB4/DPIA tunneling device
that reports an estimated-bandwidth change before ever reporting a
capability change drives a division by zero in this IRQ path.
link_dpia_send_bw_alloc_request() already guards the same
bw_granularity division; add the identical guard here rather than
introducing a new pattern.

| FreeRDP before 3.31.0 fails to validate client-supplied DesktopWidth and DesktopHeight values during GCC negotiation, allowing remote attackers to crash the server. Attackers can send crafted RDP packets with zero or oversized dimensions to trigger division-by-zero or assertion failures in multifragment update capability calculations, terminating the server process. |
| A divide-by-zero vulnerability in the gf_dash_get_timeline_duration function (src/media_tools/dash_client.c) of GPAC v26.07.0 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted MPD SegmentTimeline. Fixed in 2fd5a06ab226767900fd86edb5a1e8bfc1010640. |
| An issue in the Leptonica linked library (v1.79.0) allows attackers to cause an arithmetic exception leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted JPEG file. |
| In the silabser.sys Windows 8 driver for CP210x devices, a local unprivileged user can use incorrect driver settings to cause a kernel crash. |
| libpcap BPF interpreter for the 'div #k' and 'mod #k' ALU instructions does not check whether the immediate value is zero. In particular uncommon use cases a crafted filter program can cause a division by zero. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/display: Avoid divide by zero by initializing dummy pitch to 1
[Why]
If the dummy values in `populate_dummy_dml_surface_cfg()` aren't updated
then they can lead to a divide by zero in downstream callers like
CalculateVMAndRowBytes()
[How]
Initialize dummy value to a value to avoid divide by zero. |
| Divide-by-zero in Xpdf 4.06 (and earlier), when a glyph in a Type 3 font has a zero height. |
| A Division-by-Zero vulnerability in the ff_sws_init_single_context function (/libswscale/utils.c) of FFmpeg N-122528-gdd2976b9e1 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted input. |
| rclone versions >= v1.72.0 and <= v1.74.4 (fixed in v1.75.0) contain multiple denial-of-service vulnerabilities in the archive backend's SquashFS parser, which relies on the github.com/diskfs/go-diskfs dependency. The parser fails to validate attacker-controlled superblock and metadata values before use. An attacker who can place or modify a SquashFS image in storage exposed through an rclone :archive: remote can craft a malicious image that triggers an integer division-by-zero panic (zero block size), an out-of-bounds slice panic (out-of-range inode metadata offset), or a non-progress CPU loop (truncated metadata stream). Variants 1 and 2 terminate the rclone process and, via 'rclone serve sftp', can crash the entire SFTP server; variant 3 causes sustained CPU consumption. Parsing is lazy, so a victim or remote client must address or descend into the malicious archive object to trigger it. |
